The Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab (https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/music-cognition-lab/) seeks to fulfill an open Research Analyst staff position. This Lab is a fast-paced and exciting environment that engages students from a wide range of Vanderbilt undergraduate and graduate programs, and also plays a key role Program for Music, Mind & Society at Vanderbilt (https://www.vanderbilt.edu/musicmindsociety/), a campus-wide initiative.
The Research Analyst-III will work under the supervision of Lab Director Reyna Gordon, PhD (Department of Otolaryngology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center). This individual will be responsible for implementation, coordinating, troubleshooting, and data analysis of studies on rhythm and language skills in children and adults using behavioral assessments, neuroimaging (EEG), and genomic approaches. The RA-III will work collaboratively with students, staff, and the PI to carry out a series of ongoing studies and plan new studies that investigate the biological basis of music and speech and test the impact of music training on language skills. Prior experience with music cognition, language development research, and experience with young children in a research setting preferred; prior experience with EEG and/or Genomic research a plus. This is an ideal position for an individual with a long-term interest in music cognition and language development research to get experience with a wide variety of methodologies.
